Carl De Keyzer is a prominent Belgian documentary photographer and photojournalist, known for his large-scale, thematic projects exploring global power structures, ideologies, and social relationships. He began his freelance career in 1982 and became a full member of the Magnum Photos agency in 1994. His work often focuses on transitional political systems and historical records, utilizing both contemporary technologies and traditional methods like glass plates. He has taught photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent and has received numerous awards, including the W. Eugene Smith Award and the Book Award from Rencontres d'Arles.
