Grand bal du printemps is a collaborative work featuring the photography of Izis Bidermanas and the text of French poet Jacques Prévert. Published in Lausanne in 1951 by La Guilde du Livre, this first edition (hors-commerce) was originally limited to members of the guild. The book contains 62 black-and-white heliogravure reproductions of Paris street scenes from around 1950, each accompanied by verse by Prévert and excerpts from other authors such as Baudelaire and Melville. It serves as a poetic celebration of the city of Paris, capturing its humanity through 'poetic realist' imagery.
