€15.00
Exhibition catalogue of Jan Dibbets's conceptual photo-collages on the theme of the horizon, issued for shows in Paris, The Hague, Chemnitz and Heilbronn in 2010-2011.
Landscape and seascape photographs are set against each other along a single line, the horizon. The book follows this recurring theme in the work of the Dutch conceptual artist Jan Dibbets. His method is to take two photographs of a landscape or seascape and join them in geometric collages, so that the horizon is shifted, tilted or doubled. This is staged, conceptual photography. The images are used to test how a view is constructed and how perspective works, not to document a place. The 64-page publication was issued for the touring exhibition of Dibbets's work in 2010 and 2011. The venues were the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague, the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz and the Kunstverein Heilbronn. It is an exhibition catalogue devoted to one artist. This edition is bilingual, in French and Dutch. Other language editions of the same title were published by Snoeck in Cologne.
