RFK Funeral Train

Paul Fusco accompanied the funeral train of Sen Robert F. Kennedy, which carried the coffin along the east coast from New York City to Washington, D.C. and its final resting place in Arlington Cemetery. The coffin was placed in the last carriage, elevated on two chairs hence visible through large observation windows. As the train slowly traveled south, America came to mourn its loss of more than a future president, but a future leader. Paul Fusco photographed the silent, mourning crowds from the passing train.
