Les photographies de John Willie
€121.00
profusely illustrated in b&w. Text in French. Published only in France, this lovely book is the most comprehensive collection to date of bondage photographs by the legendary publisher of "Bizarre"-John Willie (né John A.S. Coutts). Reproduced in a warm duotone, John Willie's subjects appear both genuinely frightened and supremely uncomfortable here, in marked contrast to the giggling, winking models of his better known colleague, Irving Klaw.
Plusieurs Possibilités. Les photographies de John Willie is a French-language survey of the private photographic work of British artist John Willie (1902–1962). The book features a collection of bondage and fetish photographs taken by Willie in his home during the 1950s, capturing the mysterious and cultish aura of that decade's sexual tensions. Rather than a retrospective argument, the work is presented as a straight, comprehensive presentation of images reproduced in warm duotone. It includes an introductory text by Gilbert Simon-Berger and is illustrated with 86 photographs, which appear on full pages or as double-page spreads. The edition is bound in black faux leather (simili-cuir noir) and features an illustrated dust jacket.
