Les Erotiques du Regard

€300.00
A rare erotic artist's book at the end of the Sixties The poems of Jacques Delfau designed in Dadaist typography. --. Illustrated original boards. Parr/Badger, vol I. page 226; Auer collection
Les Érotiques du Regard (The Erotics of the Gaze) is a frank meditation on the male gaze, presented as an essay in pictures and a form of concrete poetry. The work juxtaposes 64 black and white photographs by Marc Attali with text collages and poetic typography created by Jacques Delfau. The text often features words cut out from newspapers and magazines of Paris in 1968, reflecting the atmosphere of the revolutionary spring. Unlike many erotic books of its time, it focuses on a delicate balancing act between voyeuristic imagery and surrealist, dadaist typographical design, where the layout and typography hold equal status to the imagery.
