This volume is a major photographic mission commissioned by DATAR (Land Development and Regional Action Delegation) to document the French landscape during the 1980s. Under the joint direction of Bernard Latarjet, then working at DATAR, and photographer François Hers, who was in charge of artistic and technical direction, the project gathered works from numerous renowned photographers. The collection includes contributions from Aubacher, Baltz, Basilico, Birsinger, Ceccaroli, Deneyer, Depardon, Despatin & Gobeli, Doisneau, Drahos, Dufour, Fastenarkens, Guillot, Hannapel, Koudelka, Meynen, Rabot, Trülzsch, Garnell, Duouf, and Laffont. It serves as a significant artistic and historical archive of the country's geography during this specific period.
