This anthology and the San Francisco MOMA exhibition is accompanyies explore the "truth" of photography as evidence. As with last years "Crossing the Frontier," Sandra Phillips and her co-editors have created a fascinating and idiosyncratic set of images, spanning 150 years of photographic history. Of particular interest are Weegee's crime scene shots, the abandoned police photographs of Luc Sante's classic Evidence, and the Khmer Rouge photography collected in Twin Palms' The Killing Fields.
