Aleksandr Rodchenko

photographer

Aleksandr Mikhailovich Rodchenko (1891–1956) was a pioneering Russian and Soviet artist, sculptor, photographer, and graphic designer. A leading figure in the Constructivist movement, he transitioned from painting to photomontage and photography in the early 1920s. His work is characterized by dynamic diagonal compositions, innovative use of perspective (often shooting from high or low angles), and a focus on industrial and social themes. He was instrumental in developing Soviet corporate identity, notably for the airline Aeroflot. Rodchenko's aesthetic rejected traditional painterly techniques in favor of analytical-documentary photo series that served political and revolutionary goals.[1,2]
