Arno Nollen
photographer
Arno Nollen (1964–2022) was a Dutch photographer recognized for his uncompromising and confronting aesthetic. A graduate of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where he received the Esther Kroon Prize Award, Nollen's work primarily focused on the human form, particularly young women. His style was characterized by a blend of erotica and detachment, often exploring themes of voyeurism and the transition from childhood to adulthood. His photography was described by critics as 'voyeuristic' and 'unpolished,' capturing subjects in a way that challenged the boundaries of the gaze. He was represented by various galleries and his work was featured in major exhibitions, such as the 2004 solo exhibition at De Hallen in Haarlem.[1,2,3]
