Carel Adriaan Blazer

Carel Adriaan Blazer (1911–1980) was a Dutch photographer and resistance fighter during World War II. Based in Amsterdam, he was socially and politically engaged from a young age, joining the Association of Workers' Photographers in 1933. During the war, he was part of the 'De Ondergedoken Camera' group, documenting the hardships of the occupation. His work is characterized by social photography and documentary series highlighting societal issues. After the war, he worked in commercial and industrial photography but also traveled extensively to capture everyday life. He was a mentor to several notable photographers and co-founded the GKf photography association. His archive is currently managed by the Maria Austria Institute in Amsterdam.[1,2]
