Donald Peter Turner (1934–2017) was a prominent American photographer known for his mastery of color and composition. A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1956, he became recognized as one of the most influential photographers of his era, noted for his ability to merge fine art with commercial aesthetics. His work is characterized by intense coloration and a dramatist's sense of event. Turner was highly decorated, receiving the Outstanding Achievement in Photography honor from the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) in 1981. His photographs are held in permanent collections at major institutions including the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, and the International Center of Photography.
