Hans Plomp

author

Hans Plomp (1944–2024) was a Dutch writer and poet born in Amsterdam. He gained recognition for his work in the late 1960s and early 1970s, notably with 'Het Amsterdams dodenboekje' (1970). Plomp was a significant figure in the Provo movement and later became known for his involvement with the Stichting Legalize!, advocating for drug legalization. He lived for many years in Ruigoord, an artist community near Amsterdam, where he helped preserve the village from demolition. His literary output includes novels, poetry collections, essays, and translations of authors such as James Purdy and George Steiner.
