Herbert Molderings

Herbert Molderings is a German art historian and emeritus professor of Middle and Modern Art History at the Ruhr University Bochum. He received his doctorate in 1973 with a study on Marcel Duchamp's work. His career includes roles as director of the Westphalian Art Association in Münster (1975–1978) and various guest professorships in Hamburg, Kassel, and Berlin. Molderings is recognized for his research on avant-garde photography, Dadaism, Surrealism, and the works of Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Umbo, and László Moholy-Nagy. He organized a major retrospective of Otto Umbehr's work between 1995 and 1997 in several museums. In addition to his academic career, he is a freelance scholar and curator who has written extensively on the history of photography and conceptual art.[1,2]
