Jan Versnel

Jan Versnel (1924–2007) was a prominent Dutch architectural and interior photographer. He began his career in the late 1940s as an industrial and technical photographer before specializing in architecture and furniture design. Known for his meticulous approach to capturing proportions, he worked extensively with renowned architects such as Gerrit Rietveld and Aldo van Eyck. Versnel was a key member of the Gebonden Kunsten Federatie (GKf), where he served as chairman of the photography department from 1966 to 1970. His work is characterized by its graphic clarity, use of striking contrasts, and an ability to convey both functional detail and artistic atmosphere. He was a significant contributor to Dutch architectural documentation, producing thousands of images that remain vital for historical research.[1]
