Jean-François Chevrier

Jean-François Chevrier is a French art historian, critic, and exhibition curator born in Lyon in 1954. An alumnus of the École Normale Supérieure and an agrégé de lettres, he has served as a professor of Art History at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1988 to 2019. His work spans various fields including literature, photography, cinema, and architecture. He is known for his critical essays on contemporary art, particularly regarding the pictorial tradition and the role of the document in visual culture. He has curated numerous exhibitions internationally and authored several monographs and catalogs for major institutions.[1,2,3,4,5]
