John R. Gossage

John Gossage is an American photographer and photobook-maker known for his artist's books and photographic publications. He was born in New York in 1946 and lives and works in Washington D.C. He studied with Lisette Model and Alexey Brodovitch between 1960 and 1961. Gossage is regarded as one of the finest American photobook-makers, particularly noted for his first monograph, 'The Pond' (1985). In 2002, he founded Loosestrife Editions to publish books that challenge, provoke, and inspire. His work often explores historical strata through a poetic and metaphorical lens, as seen in his extensive documentation of Berlin.[1,2]
