Joop Moesman

designer

Joop Moesman (1909-1988) was a Dutch surrealist painter and railway worker. He worked for the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) from 1925 to 1968, primarily as a draughtsman and lithographer. During his tenure at the railways, he designed various items including station menus, logos, and corporate stationery. Notably, he was commissioned in 1966 to design new NS letterhead and proposed a typography report for the company. He is often referred to as 'the only real Dutch surrealist' due to his artistic output produced during his long career at the railways.
