Lou Stoumen

Lou Stoumen (1917–1991) was an American photographer, filmmaker, and writer. His photographic work spanned a wide range of subjects, from the idealistic imagery of young servicemen during World War II to starker documentary styles inspired by Raymond Chandler's novels. He is also known for his significant contributions as a film director, winning two Academy Awards for his documentary films 'The True Story of the Civil War' (1957) and 'The Last of the Cowboys' (1960). Stoumen was a prominent figure in 20th-century American photography, recognized for both his technical skill and his narrative approach to visual storytelling.[1,3]
