Manuel Ramos da Costa Martins (1922–1996) was a Portuguese architect, professor, and photographer. He studied at the Schools of Fine Arts in Lisbon and Porto, graduating in architecture in 1956. His professional career included work for the Municipal Chamber of Lisbon and the Directorate of National Monuments. He is most notably recognized for his artistic collaboration with Victor Palla on 'Lisboa, cidade triste e alegre' (1959), a seminal photobook that captured the daily life and architecture of Lisbon in the 1950s. His work often explored the intersection of urban design, graphic layout, and documentary photography.[1,2]
