Marlo Broekmans

Marlo Broekmans is a Dutch photographer born in Hoorn in 1953. An autodidact who began her photographic practice in 1975, she studied Pedagogy and Psychology between 1970 and 1977 at the University of Amsterdam. She gained worldwide recognition for her collaborative work with Diana Blok from 1979 to 1981, which included the publication of 'Invisible Forces'. Her photography is characterized by an autobiographical approach, frequently featuring herself as a model (often referred to as 'The Light Woman') in figure studies that explore gender, sexuality, and identity. She has received various accolades, including the Pan-L Silver Award for her series 'Noord-Holland' in 1994.[1,2,3,4]
