Max Pam
photographer
Max Pam is an Australian photographer born in Melbourne in 1949. His work is characterized by a deep engagement with travel and cultural exploration across Asia, Europe, Australia, and the Indian Ocean Rim. After leaving Australia at age 20 to assist an astrophysicist on a journey from Calcutta to London, Pam developed a practice of documenting personal encounters and landscapes that move beyond mere tourist records into unfolding stories of experience. He has been represented in major public and private collections in Australia, Great Britain, France, and Japan. His photography often explores themes of cultural fluency, visual instinct, and the mysterious nature of travel. He currently teaches photomedia at Edith Cowan University in Perth.[1,2]
