Nigel Spivey

Nigel Spivey is a scholar of classical art and an Official Fellow at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he currently serves as Vice-Master. He began his academic journey at Emmanuel in 1977 as an undergraduate. Following his graduation, he worked with Vietnamese refugees before pursuing a PhD in Etruscan archaeology, which involved research at the British School at Rome and the University of Pisa. His professional career includes roles as a Research Fellow at Emmanuel (1986-89) and Lecturer in Classics at the University of Wales (1989-91). He has held visiting positions at the Getty Institute and the Australian National University. In addition to his academic work, he is an athlete who held a hammer-throwing record for two decades and is also active in painting.[1]
