Okwui Enwezor

Okwui Enwezor (1963–2019) was a prominent Nigerian curator, art critic, writer, poet, and academic administrator. He is widely recognized for his role in globalizing African art and centering postcolonial critique in the contemporary art world. His career included significant roles such as Director of Haus der Kunst in Munich (2011–2019) and curating major international exhibitions including Documenta 11 (2002) and the Venice Biennale (2015). He was known for his intellectual rigor and visionary exhibition programs that elevated non-Western contemporary art onto the global stage.[1,2,3]
