American[1] b. 1953, Hartford, Connecticut, US[1,2] active 1975–present

Philip-Lorca diCorcia is an American photographer known for his meticulously staged compositions that blur the lines between documentary and fictional photography. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and received his MFA from Yale University in 1979. His work often features a baroque theatricality, using carefully planned staging to capture everyday occurrences or specific personas—such as male prostitutes in his 'Hustlers' series—to explore themes of identity, reality, and desire. He is currently a faculty member at Yale University.[1,2,3]
