Richard Long
author
Richard Long is a prominent British sculptor and land artist known for his minimalist interventions in the natural landscape. Born in Bristol, he studied at the West of England College of Art and St Martin's School of Art. His work often involves simple gestures—such as walking lines into grass or arranging stones into circles—that explore themes of transience, human scale, and the relationship between nature and art. He was a pioneer of Land Art in the 1960s and 70s, notably exhibiting in Germany and Italy during the Arte Povera movement. Long has been nominated for the Turner Prize four times (winning it in 1989) and was knighted in 2013.[1,2]
