Shinkichi Tajiri
author
Shinkichi Tajiri (1923–2016) was a Japanese-American sculptor and artist known for his diverse exploration of media including sculpture, photography, film, and computer art. Born in Los Angeles to Japanese parents, he moved to Paris in the late 1940s where he became associated with the CoBrA movement. His work is characterized by 'silent dynamism' and a focus on knots, machines, and junk sculptures. He was a pioneer in using off-set printing for art (X-Press) and later experimented with daguerreotypes and computer drawings. Tajiri lived much of his life in Baarlo, Netherlands, where he established his studio.[1]
