Simon Carmiggelt

Simon Johannes Carmiggelt (1913–1987) was a prominent Dutch writer, journalist, and poet. He became one of the most well-known public figures in the Netherlands through his daily newspaper columns and television appearances. After World War II, he joined 'Het Parool' as an arts editor and began writing a daily column under the pseudonym 'Kronkel' in 1946, which he continued for 35 years. Carmiggelt was a master of observing everyday life, known for his short stories, poems, and prose that captured the nuances of Dutch society.
