Wolfgang Suschitzky (1912–2016) was an Austrian-born British documentary photographer and cinematographer. Born in Vienna, he emigrated to the Netherlands in 1934 and later settled in London in 1935 following the rise of Hitler. He became one of the leading documentary makers on the British film market, working with Paul Rotha's Strand Films in the 1940s and documenting life in London's West End. His career spanned over six decades, during which he worked on more than 200 feature films, TV productions, and documentaries, including the 1971 film Get Carter. His photography is noted for its humanist, socially engaged style, deeply influenced by the Foto-Auge exhibition in Stuttgart in 1929. He was recognized for his integrity, compassion, and commitment to capturing everyday urban life.[1,2,3]
