Notations in Passing
Nathan Lyons
€95.00
Ninety-six full-page black-and-white street photographs, many paired as diptychs across facing pages.
The book reproduces 96 full-page black-and-white photographs arranged in extended sequences, with no accompanying text. Lyons often pairs two images as a diptych, one on each facing page, so that meaning forms between them. The street scenes are taken in a snapshot manner and show the everyday American landscape: signage, graffiti, advertisements and architectural details. The work is Lyons's own, presented as a single-photographer monograph. It was his first major book and the first to explore his diptych sequencing.
