€12.50
Historical photographs from Rotterdam’s Museum voor Volkenkunde explore photography and tourism in the Orient from 1860 to 1900. The bilingual volume opens a series devoted to selections from the museum’s photography collection.
Historical photographs of the Orient examine the relationship between photography and tourism from 1860 to 1900. Drawn from the photography collection of Rotterdam’s Museum voor Volkenkunde, the selection makes part of that collection available in book form and presents the images within the period named in the book’s subtitle. The volume is the first in the series Photography from the Collection of the Museum of Ethnology, produced by Fragment Uitgeverij in cooperation with the museum. The publisher’s introductory text explains that the series was conceived to demonstrate the scope and importance of the museum’s photographic holdings through successive selections from the collection. Dutch and English text accompanies the photographs.
