Other Americas

Other Americas is a powerful collection of black-and-white photographs by renowned Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado. This work, which served as his first major monograph published in the United States, captures intimate portraits and evocative landscapes of rural cultures, traditional lifestyles, and spiritual traditions throughout Central and South America. The book features over 100 images documenting the social struggles and daily lives of indigenous peoples and peasants in countries including Brazil, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Guatemala, and Mexico. It includes an introduction by Alan Riding and a preface by Salgado himself, providing context to the evocative visual narrative of the spiritual and political landscapes of the region between 1977 and 1984.
