This comprehensive volume features seventy-three of Alfred Stieglitz's most significant photographs, selected to represent the breadth and depth of his artistic journey. The collection spans his early European studies in the 1880s and 1890s, his evocative views of New York City at the turn of the century, and intimate portraits of the many artists and writers he supported. It includes an extended portrait of Georgia O'Keeffe and a selection of fifty-six letters and articles that provide essential context to his photographic practice. The book was originally produced to accompany an exhibition at the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
