Alain Bergala (born 1943) is a French film critic, essayist, screenwriter, and director. He has been a significant figure in cinema theory, notably as an editor for 'Cahiers du cinéma' from 1976 to the early 2000s. He is recognized as a specialist on the works of Jean-Luc Godard, Roberto Rossellini, and Abbas Kiarostami. Beyond film, he has written extensively on photography since 1976.[1,2,3,4]
