Bodo Balthasar von Dewitz (1950–2017) was a prominent German art historian specializing in historical photography. He served as the director of the photographic collections at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne and was a key figure in the research and curation of 19th-century imagery. He began his career in the art trade before studying German, history, and education in Hamburg. His scholarship focused on the intersection of visual culture and historical documentation, notably through the preservation of the Robert Lebeck collection.[1,2,3]
