Carel van Hees is a Dutch photographer and filmmaker born in Rotterdam in 1954. He began his career as a photographer in 1970 and initially worked as a photojournalist for several major publications, including Het Vrije Volk, NRC Handelsblad, and Vrij Nederland. Since the 1980s, he has transitioned into creating long-term documentary projects that often focus on human subjects and social issues.
