Cor Jaring
author · photographer
Cornelis (Cor) Jaring (1936–2013) was a prominent Dutch photographer and conceptual artist, best known for his documentary photography of the 1960s and 1970s. Initially a dockworker, Jaring began capturing the daily lives and subcultures of Amsterdam in his spare time. He achieved international fame for his raw and unposed photographs of the 'Provo' movement, the 'white bicycle' plan, and the various protests, social scenes, and rock and roll happenings that defined the city during that era. His work is characterized by an adventurous and authentic approach, capturing the marginal areas, dockers, and the evolving cultural landscape of the Netherlands. Jaring's photographs have been widely reproduced and are considered essential historical documentation of the Dutch 'sixties'.[1,2]
