Kōji Taki

author · photographer

Kōji Taki (1928–2011) was a Japanese critic, philosopher, and photographer. A graduate of the art history program at Tokyo University, he became a core figure in the avant-garde photography movement as a co-founder of the magazine Provoke in 1968. While he contributed photographs to the publication, he was primarily recognized for his critical writing on philosophy, politics, and history. He provided much of the funding for Provoke and was instrumental in its discursive orientation, exploring the relationship between visual images and language.[1,2,3,4]
