Urs Lüthi
author · photographer
Urs Lüthi is a Swiss conceptual artist and photographer born in Kriens, Switzerland. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of body art and has spent over five decades exploring themes of identity, gender fluidity, and self-representation. His artistic practice is characterized by an eclectic mix of media, including photography, sculpture, performance, video, painting, and silk-screen. Lüthi often uses his own body as a central protagonist in his works, creating uncanny self-staging photographs and sculptures that investigate the human condition with both irony and existential inquiry. Since 1994, he has also served as a professor in the Art Department of the Gesamthochschule in Kassel.[1,2,3,4,5]
