Wladyslaw Altermann

Wladyslaw Altermann is a retired professor and regional geologist specializing in Precambrian sedimentary systems, carbonate rocks, early life evolution, and mineral deposits. He held the Kumba-Exxaro Chair in Geodynamics of Ore Deposits at the University of Pretoria in South Africa (joining in 2009) after serving as a professor at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich, Germany. His research focuses on geodynamic processes in ore and basin formation, biogeology, and CO2 sequestration. He has served as Vice-President of the Geological Society of Africa and Chairman of the South African Committee for Stratigraphy.[2,3]
